A cold front will move across the region today. This will result in high temperatures peaking early and then remaining steady or slowly falling throughout the day. While temperatures will rise into the upper teens to near thirty degrees, wind chill values will be in the single digits and teens. Northwest winds will increase behind the front. For areas west of the James River Valley speeds will increase to 25 to 30 mph with gusts as high as 40 mph possible. 20 to 25 mph winds with higher gusts can be expected further east. Flurries are also possible for areas along and east of the James River Valley. The strongest winds may create brief periods of blowing or drifting snow.
