• The class was asked to draw a picture of the home where they lived. Bobbie quickly began his work and was finished before everyone else.
• Noticing that he had completed his assignment, his teacher came to review his picture.
• "Bobbie," she said as she pointed to his paper, "the roof line isn't straight."
• "No, it isn't," he admitted, "but that doesn't matter. I can fix that later."
• Respectfully she picked up his drawing and said carefully, "A straight line never needs to be fixed!"
• How easy it is to live life in a hurry, leaving many crooked lines behind us. We convince ourselves that we'll correct them later on. Often we leave things undone or incomplete, thinking there is always another day, another time, another place, another opportunity to do things right.
• But the Christian must always attempt to do the right things right - the first time. That's why God has given us His Word. In it, we find the directions on how He expects us to live and the promise that He is with us personally. And that promise assures us that He will give us the strength and power to live according to His rules and not need to make unnecessary corrections.
• Prayer: Help me, O Lord, to follow all of Your rules and principles with all my heart. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
• Psalm 119:30-38: I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws. I hold fast to your statutes, Lord; do not let me be put to shame. I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding. Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart. Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word. Fulfill your promise to your servant, so that you may be feared.
