grew ever more excited, holding their collective breath, as the field of competitors was trimmed to four girls, then three, until just two remained standing -- and Courtney was one of those two!
• When at last the verdict was in and Miss Utah was declared the winner, this did nothing to dim the pride of the folks "back home," who will always consider Courtney their own hometown Rodeo Queen. In the eyes of the town, she is a winner, and her accomplishments will long remain a great source of pride.
• The 2013 Miss Rodeo America Coronation, held during the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, NV, was held Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. A large contingent from Sisseton -- in excess of 50 -- was on hand to cheer for their hometown cowgirl.
• As First Runner-Up, Courtney will receive a $5,000 educational scholarship, a Montana Silversmiths buckle and a pair of Justin Books. She also won the Personality category, which is awarded a $1,500 educational scholarship, and the Horsemanship category, which is awarded a $1,500 educational scholarship and a Tex Tan saddle sponsored by the American Quarter Horse Association. Her first place scrapbook received a $750 cash prize.
