• Christmas is the season of excitement and joyful gifts, and the town of Sisseton has been provided with both in the person of hometown Rodeo Queen Courtney Peterson. The town was buzzing last week with the news of Courtney's success at the Miss Rodeo America Pageant. Courtney, the reigning Miss Rodeo South Dakota, has done her hometown proud, placing as First Runner-Up in the Miss Rodeo America Pageant.
• First came the news that Courtney, the daughter of Mark and the late Robyn Peterson, and granddaughter of Ward and Betty Gilchrist, Aberdeen, had won the scrapbook competition in the Miss Rodeo America Pageant. That was followed by updates that she had won the Personality and Horsemanship categories.
