SD sheriff and wife retiring

• HAYTI, S.D. (AP) -- Hamlin County Sheriff Dan Mack is retiring after 33 years as sheriff of the eastern South Dakota county.
• Also retiring is Mack's wife, Louise, who has been office manager for the sheriff's department for 32 years.
• The couple will both work part-time as bus drivers. But they tell KELO-TV (http://bit.ly/Ycd95s ) they will try their best to enjoy their free time after working so long for the county.
• The county's chief deputy is lining up interviews to keep the sheriff's office fully staffed.
• Voters first elected Mack sheriff when he was 33 years old. He only faced a challenger in an election three times since then.
