By Beverly Patterson

By the time this paper reaches you there's a very good chance that you'll still feel the warmth and love that surrounded you just a couple of days ago.  It's possible you'll still have visions of sugar plums dancing in your head and the memory of jingle bells ringing in your ears....or maybe....not.  In reality you'll most likely be hauling out what appears to be a months worth of garbage, sorting gifts into "this is nice" "I really love this" and "what in the world were they thinking" piles, feeding the partridge that came in the pear tree and eating yet another serving of leftover figgy pudding.  You're possibly considering getting some new friends as the old ones that thought giving you a partridge in a pear tree and figgy pudding aren't really as great as they appeared to be.  They're smart though as they hired someone to deliver your gifts because they knew you'd retaliate.  If life wasn't a mixture of pleasure and pain none of us would learn how to be such versatile creatures.  We adapt to all sorts of unexpected surprises and become fascinating and unique and really good at finding new friends that don't buy birds in trees.
• My family celebrated Christmas on Sunday December 23rd.  Don and Becky Wegleitner hosted a delicious Christmas supper for Marie Patterson, Jr Patterson, Shawn and Andrea Engelmann of Aberdeen, Dan Hamik and Allison Wegleitner of Worthing, April Wegleitner, Gene and Jane Engelmann and Fanny Engelmann of Warner, Beverly Patterson, and Don Schatz of Bismarck.  Gifts were exchanged following the meal and everyone was blessed with the warmth and love that Christmas brings.
• The beginning of this article was written as if Christmas is over but in reality I'm writing it today which is December 24th so I'm off to get more ingredients for figgy pudding and the pet store that ordered the partridge in the pear trees for me closes at noon today and I still have a few friends left on my list that haven't received their gifts so I better go! Please tell me all about your celebrations and then I'll share them with everyone next week!  Call me at 605-294-5874 or email me at beverlypatterson555@yahoo.com.  Until next time.
