formances. The first performance will be Saturday evening at 7pm and the second performance will be on Sunday at 10:30 am. Both performances will be at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Groton and will serve refreshments following the performances.
• While Doeden has faithfully served as director, she said she feels the time is right to stop doing it. Doeden is involved in a handful of other activities in the community, such as Groton Community Transit and teaching piano. She also serves as the director of the choir, a separate role from directing the cantata. The choir director role is something she will continue, she said.
• "I feel kind of bad that we're going to stop doing it, but it's gotten the right time to not do that anymore," Doeden said. "I'll continue to direct the choir until someone wants to take it over," Doeden said. "Right now, we have some people in our church that could eventually take it over, and that would be good, too. Nobody's indispensable, that's for sure."
• While the performers have put in some long hours learning their parts and songs, they start practice the first week of September, Doeden has put in even longer hours as her role entails scheduling practices for the choir, finding musicians to accompany the choir, working with soloists, ordering posters and learning to play the sheet music.
