Electric rates modified

• Effective with the February utility billing, city residents and businesses will see an adjustment in their utility rates.  Some will see their rates increase, some will see them decrease and some will see no change. The biggest change will be the three-phase customers. Their base rate will increase to $70 per month and residential base rate will be $35 a month. There will be no more "free power" included in the minimum base

charge; however, there is no more tier rate either. All kilowatt hours for both residential and businesses will be at 9.7 cents per KWH.
• Dual fuel customers will remain at 5 cents. Geo thermal will be at 8 cents. In order to qualify for the geo thermal rate, you must have 10KW electric backup. Geo thermal customers can get a the dual fuel rate if they also have a fossil fuel backup. All other geos are at full rate. Air source heat pumps with 10KW electric and fossil fuel will qualify for a dual fuel rate. All other air source heat pumps will be at the full rate. Full rate is 9.7 cents.
