Metrodome cranks up the heat to melt off snow

• MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Metrodome officials are making sure the heavy snow in downtown Minneapolis doesn't bring the roof down.
• It's been almost two years to the day since 17 inches of snow in 24 hours tore holes in the inflatable dome, forcing the Vikings to play the final two games of the season elsewhere. The repair project cost $22.7 million.
• Steve Maki, director of facilities for the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Authority, confirms they cranked up the heat after Sunday's Vikings-Bears game. And he says they'll keep it that way until the storm passes. He says everything is going well so far.
• Maki also says jokingly that sportswriters complaining about the heat up in the press box could have a pretty nice sauna if they splash some water on the rocks.

• South Dakota St. beats Cal State Bakersfield 69-63
• BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) -- Nate Wolters returned from injury and scored 18 points to lead South Dakota State past Cal State Bakersfield 69-63 on Sunday -- the Jackrabbits' 23rd consecutive home victory.
• Wolters, who missed two games with a sprained ankle, also had six assists and seven rebounds. Tony Fiegen added 16 points for South Dakota State (8-3), winner of seven of its last eight. The Jackrabbits' only loss in that stretch came on Tuesday at No. 14 Minnesota.
• Brayden Carlson scored 12 points and Jordan Dykstra added 11 points for the Jackrabbits. Only Syracuse (28) and Kansas (26) have longer home-court winning streaks. South Dakota State's next six games are on the road.
• Britton Williams led the Roadrunners (3-6) with 18 points. Stephon Carter scored 17 points and Brandon Barnes and Javante Maynor each scored 10 for Bakersfield.
• The game was delayed 30 minutes due to a blizzard.

Storm brings heavy snow to Minn., Wis., SD

• MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The heaviest snowstorm to hit the region in two winters dumped heavy snow across a broad belt of Minnesota including the Twin Cities area Sunday, as well as parts of western Wisconsin.
