Helicopter rides in Groton

• Have you noticed the large yellow signs around town advertising Helicopter Rides? Skyway Helicopters, a Minnesota based company, will be in town again today offering helicopter rides to the public. They have set up just west of the Red Horse along US Hwy 12.
• The company does a wide verity of services according to Greg Miller, Operations Manager.
• "We do aerial photography, land surveying, power line patrol and wild life management," Miller said. "We also offer special events such as grand openings, family reunions, birthday parties and regular air rides."
• The company is on its way to an event in Redfield and had a couple of extra days. They were set up in Aberdeen on Monday and came to Groton on Tuesday with plans to be in town again on Wednesday before traveling to Redfield.
• The cost of the rides varied with a base price of $75 for one to two people and $90 for three people. There are no reserved flights. Anyone wishing to take a ride just needs to show up at the location.
• One former Groton resident took advantage of the ride while the company was in Aberdeen.
• "My wife and I took the ride around Aberdeen on Monday," Rich Hoops said. "It was a fun and an enjoyable trip. While flying over the Wal-Mart parking lot they

dipped the helicopter to one side and then the other, so you were looking straight down at the parking lot, it was exciting."
• If you're interested in taking a ride, but are unable to do so on Wednesday, it's possible that you may have a second opportunity to catch a ride on Sunday.
• "We may return to Aberdeen on Sunday," Miller said. "Before we head back home."
