Groton moves one step closer to winning $10,000.

• Sports rivalries are a part of high school sports and the rivalry between Groton High School and Roncalli High School has been voted the top rivalry in the state according to USA Today.
• The USA Today was conducting a state-by-state contest to determine who has the best rivalry in each state. In South Dakota the top three were: Brookings vs Watertown, Groton vs Roncalli and SF Roosevelt vs SF Washington. The Groton/Roncalli match up garnered 4,246 votes, or 97 percent of the votes, while the other two rivalries only got a combined total of 137 votes.
• The rivalry will now move into the regional competition, which begins at 10 a.m. today and ends at 10 a.m. Dec. 12. The 51 state winners will be divided among four regions. At this time it is unknown who the competition will be. The four regional winners will advance to the national round of voting.
• Once again the communities will need to work together to garner enough votes to advance to the National round and a chance at winning $10,000 to be split between the two schools.
• Rally your family and friends to vote today! Don't let another rivalry take the grand prize. Now it's up to you to decide the nation's best high school football rivalry. To vote, go to http://contest.usatodayhss.com/. Voting will end on Monday, Dec. 3 at 11:00 a.m.
• Keep on voting!!
