• On Saturday December 1st Vern Swanson celebrated his 80th Birthday with a very large group of well wishers at Holland's Auto Care in Claremont.  Vanessa Albrecht, Vern and Virginia's youngest daughter from Colorado Springs arrived as a special surprise for Vern.  Also in attendance were Veronica and Dick Paulson, Adam, Katie Durst, Eric and Carter of Aberdeen and Kirk and Janelle Swanson of Britton.  Virginia furnished delicious rolls and a wonderful time was had by all who attended.  On Monday, December 3rd, which is Vern's actual birthday, his Grandson, 1st Lieutenant Michael Swanson arranged for the flag to be flown over the hospital at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan in honor of Vern's years of service to his country as well as for his milestone birthday.  What an incredible tribute to his Grandfather!  Michael is an army nurse there in Afghanistan.
• Northland Feeders employees held their annual Christmas Party on Saturday evening, December 1st with a gathering at Minerva's Restaurant in Aberdeen.  Those in attendance were Ron and Tam Wegleitner, Don and Becky Wegleitner, Jr Patterson, Justin and Jen Wegleitner, Gabe Wegleitner, Nick Wegleitner, and Darwin and Sheila Ives.  It seems that every year this particular business suffers a few mishaps followed by outstanding performance by their employees.  Annually awards are given for these great accomplishments.  Top honors this year went as follows:  Ron Wegleitner; 4 Wheeler Stuntman of the Year Award, Darwin Ives; Golden
