dard in high school. There are three kinds of reading.  Read to your child, read with your child or have your child read alone.  They all work equally well and we guarantee they will love them all even as an older child.  This may sound like a lot but it is a small investment to make in a child to become a happy successful person.  Make it fun.  Laugh, joke and have a good time!  Time with your child is free and once they grow up you can't have it back!

Greetings from the Elementary Music Room!
• We have had a great start to our year here in the Elementary Music room! Recently, the students sang in the Veterans' Day program and they did an excellent job! They worked hard to get ready for it, and I was very proud of their performance!
• Our next performance will be our Christmas Concert, which is Thursday, December 13th at 2:00pm in the High School Gym. It will feature songs by grades junior kindergarten through fifth grade. Students should wear dress clothes for the concert. "Christmas Traditions" is the theme, so be prepared to hear some classic Christmas favorites! All of the students have been working very hard and we are excited for you to see our performance!
• If you ever have questions or concerns about Elementary Music, please do not hesitate to contact me. My email address is malerie.yeaton@k12.sd.us or you can call the elementary school (397-2317) or the high school (397-8381 ext.129).
• See you on December 6th!

• The month of November is quickly slipping by and we've found ourselves to be very busy at Groton Middle School and High School.  Earlier this month, the presidential general election was held and I hope that you were able to see some of the news stories on KSFY, KELO, the Aberdeen American News, and our local newspapers about our Government class project to help increase voter turnout.  Mr. Thorson and the government students did a fantastic job in publicizing the issues and, in the process, learned a great deal about community involvement the powerful right to vote that we so easily take for granted.
• Our parent-teacher conferences on November 8 were very well attended.  I'm pleased that so many parents take the opportunity to learn of your children's academic and social progress.  Parental involvement is critical in the development of our students.  If you weren't able to attend, I encourage you to take a moment and call or email your children's teachers to check in and see how things are progress
