• Computer Literacy - Ms. Coyne
The sophomores are busy spending their time working through the Microsoft Office Suite.  They are learned and applied techniques in Word and Excel.  Currently they are working in PowerPoint and looking forward to an introduction to the Cloud by using Prezi.  In the next few weeks students will be advancing to Access and learning out databases.  Each skill the students have learned has also been demonstrated in a real world work environment.  The class is completely paperless and students are put under time deadlines to replicate the real world today.

• 6th Grade Keyboarding - Ms. Coyne
Students are on a three week rotation along with other exploratory classes.  Students in the sixth grade are expected to be able to type at 20 words per minute at 96% accuracy.  During their first three weeks the class focused on learning the proper fingerings for all the letter and punctuation keys.  They used a web based program to reinforce the classroom skills and increase speed.  Now in our second 3 week sessions students will be focusing on accuracy.  Using an additional Cloud based software students are focusing on not only fingerings but also accuracy.  With accuracy comes speed.  I have been very impressed with the student growth from the beginning of the year.  Currently students are typing anywhere from 20-50 wpm.

• 7th Grade Computers - Ms. Coyne
Seventh graders are on a nine week rotation with other exploratory classes.  Through this class students are introduced to the basic features of Microsoft Office.  They touch base with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint basics.  They learn basic formatting skills that will be used and built on throughout their educational experience, and future careers.  Students also continue to build on their keyboarding skills.  Students are expected to be typing at 25 wpm with 96% accuracy by the completion of the course.

8th Grade Computers - Ms. Coyne
Eighth graders are on a nine week rotation with other exploratory class.  Through this class students continue to build on the skills learned during their seventh grade experience.  They learn more basic and advanced features of Microsoft Office Suite.  Students work on reports, spreadsheets, graphs, and presentation skills.  This is their last formal computer class until their sophomore year so I try to pack anything other teachers might use in other classes as they continue on their educational journey.  Students are expected to increase typing skills by typing at 30 wpm with 96%
