PATIENCE AND PERSEVERANCE

• Early in life Fritz decided that he wanted to play the violin. His parents became excited to think that their son would one day become a violinist and gladly paid for his lessons. However, he soon became disillusioned and quit.
• After a few years he decided that he would study medicine. He enrolled in a fine medical school, but once again, failed to succeed.
• Finally, he left school and entered the army. When his enlistment was up, he ended exactly where he started: as a private.
• Discouraged with life, he decided to return to his violin teacher. Sitting quietly in his studio he asked, "Will you teach me?"
• "Yes," he replied, "but only if you have the invincible, indefatigable commitment that you will not quit."
• He agreed. He persevered and patiently practiced his violin faithfully and eventually, Fritz Kreisler became one of the world's greatest violinists.
• Paul wrote, "We can rejoice when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us - they help us learn to endure!"
• No wise person seeks problems and trials because they want to be miserable. They come with life. But when God brings them into our lives He wants us to lean on Him, learn from Him and draw closer to Him.
Prayer: Lord, give us Your strength to persevere in times of adversity, Your grace to give us patience when we want to quit and Your insight to see You at work in our lives. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Scripture for Today: Romans 5:3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;
