• During the award ceremony, Arlis Doeden, Director of the Groton Transit, announced that the Groton Transit had increased its ridership by almost 3,000 riders in the last year. So far in 2012, there have been 10,066 total riders of the Groton Transit.
• Part of the increase in ridership was due to the addition of the medical runs added this last year. But the major reason for the increase was in the number of students riding the transit bus.
