3M of Aberdeen.  Gabrielle Kramer from Groton was awarded the third place medal in the individual eighth grade portion of the competition, and her eighth grade team placed first in the eighth grade team competition, thereby receiving trophies and a coach's plaque.  Members of the team were:  Kelby Hawkins, Gabrielle Kramer, Landon Marzahn, and Keri Pappas.
• MathCounts is a nationwide coaching and competition program for middle school students that promotes excellence in mathematics.  Area competitions consisting of several types of testing procedures are held monthly.  The next junior high competition will be the Roncalli Invitational MathCounts Countdown Competition on Wednesday, December 12.
