• Park officials say that about 35 burros will remain in the park. Last year, burros sold for less than $50 each.

USD, SDSU get set to battle on football field

• BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) -- A 123-year-old South Dakota football rivalry that has been on hiatus for nine years heats back up Saturday afternoon.
• The University of South Dakota Coyotes are traveling up to Brookings to face the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits in the teams' first Missouri Valley Football Conference matchup.
• The 7-3 Jackrabbits are seeking their eighth win and a shot at the Division I Football Championship Subdivision playoffs. The 1-9 Coyotes are looking for their first conference victory to enter the offseason on a positive note.
• The in-state rivalry was put on hold in 2003 when SDSU moved up to Division I. The Coyotes have since followed suit and joined the Jackrabbits in the MVFC.
• Some 15,000 fans are expected to pack Coughlin-Alumni Stadium for the 2 p.m. game.

Mount Rushmore mascots heading to New York City

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Mount Rushmore is taking on The Big Apple this weekend.
• The South Dakota Department of Tourism's presidential mascots will be in New York City to promote the state's float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
• The four mascots represent the four faces of Mount Rushmore National Memorial. The mascots along with representatives from the Department of Tourism are kicking off their trip with an appearance at Macy's and several tourism spots around the city.
• The goal is to share travel information about South Dakota.
• On Thanksgiving, South Dakota will once again be in the spotlight when the state's float appears in the Macy's parade. "American Pie" singer Don McLean will ride on the float. This is the third year the state has had a float in the parade.
