Boomer Babble - Thoughts at Large
Memory vs Notepads

By Charles Ortman

• My fellow Boomers, I ask you, "What's the deal?"   This morning I heard the microwave beep indicating that my coffee was warmed up. So I walked into the kitchen to get it and opened the refrigerator. There was no coffee but I found my cell phone in the butter bin. So I went to charge it. The charger wasn't in my dresser drawer but there was a partially eaten ham sandwich from yesterday.  I threw the sandwich into the kitchen garbage, which was full, and took the bag out to the garage to put it in the garbage bin. The light in the garage was burned out so I went to the basement to get a new light bulb. I picked out a sixty watt bulb and noticed a stamped envelope for an electric bill on the washing machine. So I picked that up thinking I should mail it right away before it's late. I was going to my desk to get my billfold when I thought I should go to the bathroom first. So after I went to the bathroom, I went to my desk and couldn't remember what I was going there to get. So I thought I would go have a cup of coffee and try to remember. I poured a fresh cup of coffee and went to put it in the microwave. In the microwave I found my cell phone charger. I was thinking "who is the idiot that put my charger into the microwave?" I don't know, it seems that as I get older simple tasks just get more difficult and more confusing. Someone in my house is always misplacing my things; which makes it very hard to get stuff done. There are just a lot of things to remember. I have a good memory but I find I have so much to remember that I have to make little notes to keep track of some things. Which reminded me that I needed to write a little note to buy more note pads. But first I thought I should stop by the bathroom again.  Now, as I look into the bathroom mirror I wonder, "why is my billfold sitting on top of my head and why are my glasses in my back pocket?"
