Crazy Horse to shine blue for diabetes prevention

• CUSTER, S.D. (AP) -- Visitors to Crazy Horse Memorial in the Black Hills of South Dakota will see an unusual sight Tuesday: the large mountain carving will be bathed in blue light.
• The idea is to bring awareness to diabetes prevention efforts. The Crazy Horse Memorial is joining 400 other landmarks all over the world in a special night lighting ceremony to promote World Diabetes Day, which is Tuesday. Blue signifies the sky shared by all people and the unified response to the diabetes threat.
• The large carving will be illuminated from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. local time. A similar lighting event is planned in Sioux Falls at Falls Park from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. local time.
• Prevention information will also be available at locations throughout the state on Tuesday.
