NDSU football team remains atop both FCS polls

• FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- North Dakota State University remains the top-ranked team this week in both Football Championship Subdivision polls.
• The defending national champion Bison edged South Dakota State 20-17 on Saturday. The Jackrabbits slipped in both polls with the loss: from 16th to 21st in The Sports Network poll and from 20th to 23rd in the coaches' poll.
• The rest of the top five is the same in both polls: Montana State, Sam Houston State, Old Dominion and Eastern Washington.

2 western South Dakota schools to close next year

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The school board in western South Dakota's Custer County has voted to close two schools, while in the eastern city of Sioux Falls hundreds of people have signed petitions or written to the school board objecting to plans to consolidate schools.
• KOTA-TV reports that the Custer County School Board voted 4-3 to close the Spring Creek and Fairburn schools after this school year. Supporters say it will save the county about $150,000 annually, but opponents say it'll mean longer commutes for some students to Hermosa and Custer. Board member Larry Vickers resigned and left the meeting following the Monday night vote.
• In Sioux Falls, the Argus Leader reports that officials propose to consolidate three elementary schools into one to save money. The school board is to vote Nov. 26.

Roundtable discussion about SD food is Tuesday

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Farmers, restaurant owners and nutritionists will discuss the state's food supply during the 4th annual South Dakota Food Roundtable Tuesday in Sioux Falls.
• The daylong event is bringing together 75 representatives from all sectors of the state's food chain to talk about ways to deliver safe, nutritious and affordable food to South Dakotans.
