McGovern Conference in SD honoring namesake

• MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) -- The late George McGovern is being honored at an annual conference that carries his name.
• The McGovern Conference on Monday at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell is beginning with a special tribute to McGovern, the former U.S. senator from South Dakota and three-time presidential candidate who died last month at the age of 90.
• The conference is free and open to the public. This year's focus is on analyzing the possible fallout of recent negative campaigning and how Congress can best serve the nation in the coming decade. Keynote speakers are former Congressmen Gil Gutknecht (GOOT'-nehkt) of Minnesota and Max Sandlin of Texas.
• The annual McGovern Conference focuses on issues McGovern was passionate about. He usually spoke at the event each year.

SUV crashes into Rapid City funeral home; 2 hurt

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Police in Rapid City say the driver of a vehicle that plowed through a wall of a funeral home might have suffered a medical problem before the crash.
• The sport utility vehicle with two men inside crashed into the Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday. Police say there's evidence that the passenger tried to steer the vehicle after the driver became incapacitated.
• The men were taken to a local hospital with injuries that police say are not life-threatening.

Sioux Falls store robbed at butcher knifepoint

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Sioux Falls police say a male who robbed a convenience store used a butcher knife as a weapon.
• The suspect walked into the Casey's General Store shortly after 10:30 p.m. Sunday with the knife, demanded money from the clerk and fled with an unknown amount of cash.
• A different Casey's store in Sioux Falls was robbed a week earlier. Three sus
