• The South Dakota Department of Tourism announced Thursday that McLean will appear on the float and perform his 1971 hit "American Pie" during the Nov. 22 parade.
• The Department of Tourism's "Mount Rushmore's American Pride" float will feature Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Black Hills National Forest and Badlands National Park in an effort to drive more visitors to the state.
• This is the third year the float has appeared in the Macy's parade.

SD, ND governors bet over SDSU-NDSU football game

• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- The governors of North Dakota and South Dakota are betting a variety of meats over this weekend's Dakota Marker game.
• The South Dakota State University Jackrabbits are taking on the North Dakota State University Bison at the Fargodome in Fargo at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
• North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple says he will send a basket filled with Cloverdale sausage, ham and ribs to South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard if SDSU wins. Daugaard has offered a buffalo steak dinner if the Bison win the cross-border rivalry.
• Saturday's game marks the 99th meeting between the two teams. NDSU has won the past two years

Canistota rolls over Warner 52-8 for 9B title

• VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) -- Quarterback Cody Bunger helped Canistota set six records while guiding the Hawks to a 52-8 win over Warner Thursday in the South Dakota 9A football championship game.
• Bunger set records for passing yards (294), total offense (318) and first downs passing (11). The Hawks (12-0) also established records for net yards passing (327) and total first downs (26).
• Bunger, who also had three interceptions, hooked up with receiver Nick Hofer seven times for a record 195 yards.
• Alex Robertson ran 18 times for 129 yards and two scores.
• Warner's (11-1) Mitchell Boesl caught five passes for 120 yards and the Monarchs' only score.
