• Shirlee Briggs came before the council to discuss a delinquent utility bill left by Robert Vogt. Briggs said she did not know about the delinquent utility bill until one day prior to the closing of the sale of Cottonwood Trailer Park. Vogt left Groton over a year ago. Briggs said that such delinquencies could be assessed against the mobile home instead of the real estate. The problem was that the trailer house was moved out of town without anyone knowing about it and Lowary said there was no moving permit issued. The council decided to keep the delinquent utility bills on the real estate.
• Jim Gerdes underwent a 5-bypass heart surgery in Sioux Falls and will be unable to do the upkeep at the community center until February of 2013. In the meantime, the assignment has been made to Paul Kosel.
• A curb and gutter petition was presented to the council for curb and gutter on both sides of Fifth Street from Second Avenue to Third Avenue. That would leave the block between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue undone in the stretch from Second Avenue and northward. Mayor Roy Olson said that he would recommend to wait with the curb and gutter project in this area until the street is done at the same time. The council decided to wait to act on the petition until the next council meeting.
• The sale of the Tahoe will be extended until December 31, 2012. The highest bid was one placed on the internet at $6,050.

Region 1B Volleyball Match in Groton tonight

• Local volleyball fans will have an opportunity to watch one more match this year in the Groton Arena as with the Region 1B Tournament tonight. The Warner Monarchs will take on the Summit Eagles at 7 p.m. The winner of the match will advance

to the State Tournament on November 15-17 in the Corn Palace in Mitchell.
• Warner remains undefeated at 28-0 and are the District 2 Champion after defeating Northwestern in straight sets last week. Summit is 24-1 on the season is the District 1 Champion after defeating Rosholt in the districts.
