Summit League hoops tourneys stay in Sioux Falls

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The Summit League and the Sioux Falls Sports Authority have reached an agreement to keep the league's basketball tournaments in South Dakota's largest city through 2017.
• The agreement includes a mutual option for five more years that could keep the tournaments in Sioux Falls through 2022.
• The tournaments have been held in Sioux Falls since 2009. Attendance at this year's men's and women's tournaments in Sioux Falls set a record. Commissioner Tom Douple (DOO'-puhl) says the long-term agreement announced Tuesday "is a testament to the great support that the community of Sioux Falls has shown for our marquee event."
• The Sioux Falls Arena will host the tournaments for two more years before they move to the $117 million, 12,000-seat Denny Sanford Events Center being built.

Drought influencing Missouri River management plan

• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Residents and officials in the Dakotas are urging the Army Corps of Engineers to conserve water in upstream Missouri River reservoirs as drought conditions persist. The call comes just a year after record flooding on the river.
• The corps is holding six meetings in five states over four days on its annual operating plan for the river for the upcoming year. Meetings were held Tuesday in the North Dakota capital of Bismarck and the South Dakota capital of Pierre.
• The corps says September runoff in the Missouri River system was a record low. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says the dry conditions could carry into the spring.
• The corps will conduct checks in March and July to determine what level of water to release to downstream areas.

Lake Sakakawea salmon spawning goal surpassed

• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Fisheries crews collected 1.5 million eggs during their annual salmon spawning operation on Lake Sakakawea.
• The North Dakota Game and Fish Department says that easily surpassed the
