75th Annual Carnival of Silver Skates set for January 27th

• Groton will be hosting the 75th annual Carnival of Silver Skates featuring more than 100 skaters on Sunday, January 27, 2013. Two performances of this unique outdoor ice skating show will be held at the Groton ice rink at 2:00 PM and 6:30 PM. All are invited to attend.
•This year's theme is "Celebrating the Past, Anticipating the Future." It celebrates the 75th jubilee of the Carnival of Silver Skates. The theme is a tribute to the many area youth who have participated and those who continue to participate in the annual carnival and continue to improve their figure skating skills through hard work and determination while enduring freezing South Dakota temperatures and wind.
•Admission for the show is just $3.00 for those 13 and older, $2.00 for those six to 12 and free for children five and under. Plan now to watch "Celebrating the Past, Anticipating the Future" in Groton on January 27th at 2:00 PM or 6:30 PM. Watch from the comfort of your own vehicle, listening to music and narration from your radio. There will be plenty of parking, with only cars allowed on the ice and larger vehicles allowed on upper tiers. Attendees are asked to limit vehicles to one per family, please. Parking on the ice will begin at 10:00 AM on Sunday for the first show and again at 4:30 PM for the evening show. Or, dress for the weather of the day and enjoy the show from the bleachers which will be provided.
