• McGovern, who lost a 1972 presidential bid to Richard M. Nixon, died Sunday at a Sioux Falls hospice. He was 90.
• A spokesman for the McGovern family, Steve Hildebrand, says the family is still deciding who will speak at McGovern's services. He says he does not know whether the family will release a list of dignitaries who plan to attend.
• A public viewing is planned for 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls.
• Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Friday at the Mary Sommervold Hall of the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science in Sioux Falls, which seats 1,800.

Drought prompts ranchers to sell off sheep

• NEWELL, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota cattle ranchers are being forced to sell off sheep due to the lack of feed, and most are getting lower prices than in 2011.
• Saint Onge Livestock sheep yard manager Barney Barnes tells the Black Hills Pioneer (http://bit.ly/Utv0Yo ) that prices were way higher last year.
• Barnes says that in 2011, some sheep were selling for $2.40 a pound. This year, the price has dropped to 85 cents to $1.10.
• The likely reason is the market is flooded with sheep already at the slaughterhouses.
• Hulett, Wyo., rancher Will West recently unloaded a trailer full of older ewe sheep to the Newell sheep yard. He says he's bringing them in because of the drought.
• Sheep and cattle rancher Jack Orwick says he's in it for the long haul.

SD harvest continues to advance with rain

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota's row crop harvest continued to progress last week, with nearly all of corn for grain harvested
• The U.S. Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop and weather report that 96 percent of the corn for grain has been harvested, up from 90 percent the previous week. This is above the five-year average of 34 percent.
• The harvest of sorghum was also at 96 percent, up from 74 percent from a week earlier and outpacing the five-year average of 56 percent.
• Cattle conditions were rated at 68 percent good to excellent, 27 percent fair and 5 percent poor.
• Precipitations fell over most of the state, with the northeastern portion of the state
