advising putting on a false happy face when we have real reasons to be sad or discouraged. "There is a time to bemoan our outcast state", as Shakespeare would say.
• Rather, I am suggesting that in contending with the certain disparities of nature and living, we should know the terribly consequences of negative thinking. Realize that "I think I can't," stops us dead in the water, and "I think I can," helps ease the burden of chugging up the hill.
• We would all do better not to expect the worse, but instead to believe in ourselves and hope the best.

Netters lose to Northwestern

• Groton's Volleyball team went to Mellette last night where the Wildcats of Northwestern handed the Tigers a 3-0 loss. Game scores were 25-12, 25-15 and 25-13.
• Groton was 37 of 40 in serving with 5 aces. Erica Schuster and Amanda Worlie were four of four with one ace serve and Savanna Larson was six of seven with one ace.
• In attacks, Groton was 40 of 58 with 20 kills. Kylie Hawkins was 19 of 23 with nine kills and Schuster was seven of 14 with six kills.
• Groton was 66 of 66 in sets with 17 assists. Courtney Kurtz had 59 sets with 16 assists.
• Groton had 24 digs with Larson having 10 and Camille Sippel 5. Schuster had one solo block.
