Kansas-based firm buying Nebraska ethanol plant

• FAIRMONT, Neb. (AP) -- Kansas-based Flint Hills Resources is buying an ethanol plant in southeast Nebraska.
• Advanced BioEnergy, of Bloomington, Minn., says the deal for its Fairmont, Neb., plant is expected to close later this year.
• In a regulatory filing Monday, Advanced BioEnergy reported a sale price of $160 million, plus the estimated $15 million value of inventory at closing.
• The Fairmont plant has an annual capacity of more than 115 million gallons and about 50 employees.
• Advanced BioEnergy CEO Richard Peterson says "maximizing the value of our business has been a priority in the face of continuing market consolidation and compressed operating margins." The company also has plants in Huron and Aberdeen, S.D.
• Flint Hills Resources is based in Wichita, Kan.

Sioux Falls chase puts trooper in hospital

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper is in the hospital after a police chase in Sioux Falls that involved shots being fired.
• The patrol says the trooper was run over by the suspect early Wednesday and is in critical but stable condition. The female driver of the suspect car also was injured but there is no immediate word on her condition. She was arrested and then taken to a hospital.
• Details of the chase that began about 2:30 a.m. have not been released. A shopping center and a city street have been shut down as part of the crime scene.

Sanford to open new children's clinic in Bismarck

• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Dakotas-based Sanford Health plans to open a new children's clinic in North Dakota's capital city.
• The 9,000-square-foot clinic in north Bismarck will be built to mimic a castle. It is expected to open next spring, supplementing children's care currently provided at Sanford's downtown Bismarck campus.
• It will be the first Sanford Children's Castle of Care in North Dakota. Sanford
