• Many of us have had this type of experience with our Dads, or with playing sports, sometimes with gangs, or with dorm life in college. If we are lucky, some guys continue men's work as adults with coffee groups, poker nights, golf outings, football parties, hunting trips, and, in my case, a weekly gathering to sail and/or cook.
• Last night we met for a thrilling windy yet warm October sail on three boats with a venison feast that followed. It was a night with diverse opinions about presidential politics and about many things. But we have learned this is a place we can speak openly and honestly, with lots of laughter. Of course much talk is always about women, how we will never understand them, and what we appreciate about them.
• For me having male friends has greatly enhanced the quality and depth of spousal and family relationships. If you are a man without a group of male friends, you need to fix it.
