• Shirlee Briggs and her mother, Janice Fliehs, drove to Wisconsin on Friday, Oct. 5, for a visit with friends in the Green Lake area. They spent the weekend with a group which all spent time at Windword Passage Resort at Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, during the winter months. They enjoyed the beautiful fall foliage in Wisconsin although the area is too is dry and needs rain.
• Dan and Cheryl Wold and Jordan of Carrington, ND. visited with LaVonne Helmer, on Fri. night, and went to the NSU Gypsy Day Parade together. Their daughter, Julia, was in the parade as she attends NSU. Pam Merkel joined them in watching the parade.

Netters beat Falcons

• Groton Area's volleyball team defeated Florence-Henry in the Monday night match held in Groton. Groton lost the first game, 25-18, but then won the next three, 25-23, 25-13 and 25-19.
• Groton was 90 of 117 in attacks with 44 kills. Kylie Hawkins was 35 of 39 with 14 kills, Erica Schuster was 17 of 26 with 13 kills and Camille Sippel was 17 of 20 with 10 kills.
• In serves, Groton was 76 of 92 with 15 ace serves. Kylie Hawkins was 14 of 18 with five aces and Erica Schuster was 12 of 14 with four aces.
• Groton had 48 digs with Savanna Larson having 12, Rylee Winburn 11 and Camille Sippel 10.
• In sets, Groton was 118 of 118 with 42 assists. Courtney Kurtz had 106 sets with 39 assists and Amanda Worlie had six with one assist. Kylie Hawkins had Groton's only block.
• Groton, now 7-12, will travel to Northwestern on Oct. 16.
