Grant to assist youth camps at School of Mines

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota Community Foundation has awarded a $5,000 grant to the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology to help offset camp fees for its summer programs.
• Hundreds of elementary, middle and high school age students attend a variety of camps hosted on the School of Mines campus each summer.
• Camps traditionally have focused on exposing children to science and engineering or immersing high school age students in focused experiences in areas such as mining, forensics, chemical engineering and explosives.
• For next summer, the youth program will shift its focus toward more in-depth camps for high school students.
• The camps will emphasize personalized learning and exploration of career possibilities in science, technology, engineering and math disciplines.

Search continues for missing Missouri River boater

• LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- Investigators are searching for a missing boater who fell into the Missouri River near Ponca State Park in northeast Nebraska.
• The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission says the unidentified man was trying to anchor a boat around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, when the anchor's rope pulled him and a passenger overboard.
• Authorities say the passenger climbed back into the boat and called the Dixon County sheriff's office. The passenger was treated for mild hypothermia.
• Local responders from Nebraska and South Dakota looked for the a man until 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and resumed the search at 8 a.m. Sunday.

Man pleads guilty for assault on federal officer

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A South Dakota man has pleaded guilty for punching a police officer.
• Matthew Dupris (doo-PREE'), of Eagle Butte, is charged with assaulting a federal
