• VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota Board of Regents has approved a new minor in sports management at Northern State University in Aberdeen.
• The new minor will consist of 18 credit hours. Officials say it responds to a growing demand for people prepared to manage and promote increasingly complex operations within the sports management industry. The minor will cover marketing, intercollegiate athletics, sports law, public relations, finance, strategic management and communications.
• University officials say Northern State already offers a full range of courses for its bachelor's degree in sports marketing and administration, so no new courses will be needed for the new minor in sports management.
