Groton 8th Grade Football go 2-1 at Britton

• The 8th graders recently wrapped up play at the Britton/Hecla Jamboree.  Here are their results.
• Webster 6, Groton 0
• This game was scoreless all the way until the very last play of the game.  Webster threw a long pass with no time on the clock and scored the winning touchdown.  Groton had one really good scoring opportunity early in the game as they were running the ball well with Joe Groeblinghoff lead blocking for Bennett Shabazz. That drive was thwarted though by penalties…..
• Groton 20, Roncalli 6
• This game avenged a loss to Roncalli earlier in the season.  Groton's first score came by way of a run by  Shabazz.  The 2-point conversion was also good on a pass from Kelby Hawkins to Patrick Gengerke.  Groton scored next as well on a run by Hawkins.  The conversion was good as well with a little trickery (the classic statue of liberty from Hawkins to Gengerke).  The score was now 16-0.  Roncalli came back on their next drive with a touchdown and conversion of their own making it 16-8. The Tigers then scored again on their last drive with a long pass from Hawkins to Trevor Pray for a touchdown.
• Groton 8, Sisseton 0
• Groton's only touchdown in this game came again on a pass from Hawkins to Pray. The conversion again came on the statue, Hawkins to Gengerke.  Landon Marzahn had an interception in this game as well, ending a Sisseton drive.
