Tiger netters beat Sisseton

• Groton's Lady Tigers had a new look about them in Thursday's volleyball match against Sisseton. To help promote October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Lady Tigers wore pink jerseys during the game. They also had a new look of confidence about them as they defeated the Lady Redmen 3 games to one, 25-23, 25-14, 20-25 and 15-22.
• Groton played a smart game, attacking the Sisseton weak spots with a mixed bag of tricks. They were able to mix up their hits, hitting the ball hard, soft or adding a tricky twist.
• "We played well," Head Coach Aaron Helvig said. "We've been working on communication; the back row helps the front row hitters by calling out what the defense is doing, if there are double blockers, a single blocker or open spots in the defense. This allows the hitters to find the soft spots in the defense."
• The Lady Tigers were on the attack, making 101 out of 132 attempts for 55 kills, (Kylie Hawkins 34 out of 42 with 17 kills, Erica Schuster 17 out of 21 with 12 kills, Camille Sippel 26 out of 33 with 11 kills and Halle Dohman 17 out of 23 with 10 kills).
• "Schuster played some of her best volleyball tonight," Helvig said. "She was able to mix up her hitting, sometimes hitting the ball hard, sometimes soft, and hitting the weak spot in the other team's defense."
• Sisseton was only 133 out of 146 with 31 kills (Macy Toelle 50 out of 55 with 12
