SD woman sentenced for theft from tribal program

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A Rosebud woman has been sentenced for stealing from the Rosebud Sioux Tribe's child care services program.
• Thirty-nine-year-old Tanya Walking Eagle pleaded guilty in July to a charge of theft from an Indian tribal organization. She was sentenced in federal court Tuesday to a month behind bars and three years on supervised release.
• U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says Walking Eagle also was ordered to pay $30,304 in restitution.

Involuntary manslaughter cases proceed in SD

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- One South Dakota man has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and another has been sentenced on the same charge in separate cases.
• U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says 22-year-old Avery Hawk Wing, of Wounded Knee, was sentenced to three years and four months in prison for a November 2011 incident in which the car he was driving recklessly rolled and killed a passenger. Hawk Wing pleaded guilty in January.
• Forty-eight-year-old Mark Clairmont, of Norris, pleaded guilty on Tuesday in a February crash in which authorities say he was driving drunk. That rollover also killed a passenger. Clairmont faces up to eight years in prison when he is sentenced next Jan. 2.

Pair charged with making meth in home with 6 kids

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A Sioux Falls man and woman face drug and child abuse charges for allegedly making and distributing methamphetamine out of a home where six children lived.
• Authorities say they were tipped off by a 15-year-old girl concerned about the safety of her siblings. Police arrested 34-year-old Tammara King and 41-year-old Eric Johnson last Friday, and the six children were taken into protective custody.
• Three of the children are teenagers. The others are ages 10, 9 and 4.
• Bond for King and Johnson was set at $10,000 Tuesday. It was not immediately clear if they had obtained attorneys, and a telephone listing for their home could not immediately be found Wednesday. A telephone listing for King at a different address
