Primary Care Task Force to meet in Sioux Falls

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The Governor's Primary Care Task Force is meeting in Sioux Falls Thursday.
• Gov. Dennis Daugaard created the group in May to expand the educational capacity to train more primary health care providers for rural areas of South Dakota.
• The task force will consider and make recommendations regarding the medical school class size, components of the rural training track for medical students, residency programs in the state and physician assistant and nurse practitioner program capacity.
• The meeting runs 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sheraton Sioux Falls Hotel.

Rescheduled Mines homecoming events this week

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Some South Dakota School of Mines and Technology homecoming events rescheduled because of the September death of President Robert Wharton are being held this week.
• The coronation of the king and queen will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Surbeck Center ballroom. An outdoor pep rally and bonfire will follow.
• The annual picnic and M Hill climb will begin at noon Friday at Founder's Park off Omaha Street.
• The M Day parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday on the School of Mines campus.
• Tailgating activities will take place in the stadium parking lot prior to the 2 p.m. football game against Presentation College.
• Some 500 freshmen will follow halftime tradition and run around the football field and form a giant M.

SD panel rejects plan to record closed meetings

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- A task force seeking ways to make South Dakota government more open on Wednesday rejected a proposal that would have required state and local boards and commissions to record closed meetings.
• However, the Open Government Task Force endorsed other proposals to clarify
