GHS Marching Band gets the gold medal

•  The Groton High School Marching Band had a strong showing at the Gypsy Day Parade in Aberdeen on Saturday, October 6th.  They received the Gold Medal award for a superior marching performance.  Fifteen other bands also marched in the annual parade, which is one of the biggest marching events in Northeast South Dakota.  Another popular event is the Lake Region Marching Band Festival in Waubay.  Groton will also be marching in that event on Friday, October 12th.  Sixteen area bands will march for a judging panel and spectators along the parade route.  Following the 10:00 a.m. parade, band members and fans will be treated to a performance by SDSU's Pride of the Dakotas Marching Band.
• The parade will be broadcast live on the radio on Country 102.9 FM and KMSD 1510 AM and 98.3 FM.  If you are out of the listening area you may also listen online at bigstoneradio.com
• Following the parade, Groton's band will continue on to Minneapolis to attend a musical theatre performance as well as other activities.
