North Dakota State remains atop FCS coaches' poll

• FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- Undefeated North Dakota State University remains atop the Football Championship Subdivision coaches' poll after a 48-7 win over previous No. 3 Youngstown State over the weekend.
• The Bison received all 26 first-place votes in this week's poll. Youngstown State dropped to No. 9.
• The rest of the Top Five are Montana State, Old Dominion, Wofford and James Madison.
• NDSU hosts Indiana State on Saturday. Indiana State is 4-2 and got votes in the poll but did not crack the Top 25. South Dakota State University also got votes in the poll, after being idle over the weekend. The University of North Dakota did not get any votes this week after losing to Eastern Washington 55-17 on Saturday.

Adventurer completes swim down Missouri River

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- British adventurer Dave Cornthwaite has completed a 1,000-mile swim down the Missouri River.
• Cornthwaite embarked on the 1,004-mile journey on Aug. 10 in Chamberlain, S.D. He and his team of helpers reached St. Louis 58 days later.
• "I've swum into obstacles beneath the surface, risked hypothermia and spent much of the past three weeks vomiting in the river," he told The Associated Press in an email late Monday. "But if you just keep swimming you eventually get to St Louis, and we did."
• Cornthwaite's swim was part of his effort to complete 25 thousand-mile journeys using non-motorized transport, to raise money for charities that raise awareness of breast cancer and support rural schools in Africa, Asia and Latin America. He has now completed seven journeys, including paddleboarding the Mississippi River and skateboarding across Australia.

Deer disease outbreak worsens in South Dakota

• YANKTON, S.D. (AP) -- State wildlife officials are eliminating unsold deer hunting licenses in southeastern South Dakota in response to a disease outbreak.
• The move affects Bon Homme, Hutchinson, Yankton, Clay, Union and Charles
