Groton wins third straight game

• Groton used a ground assault to propel the Tigers to a 28-6 win over Mobridge-Pollock in Groton's last home game of the season. Both teams are now 3-4 on the season and according to Coach Shaun Wanner, it will come down to Groton and Mobridge-Pollock as who will make it to the playoffs.
• Groton will travel to Deuel on October 18 for its final game while Mobridge-Pollock will travel to Chamberlain next week.
• "This was the best game we've played all year," said Coach Shaun Wanner. "We were consistent on offense and consistent on defense and we did some things right with our special teams."
• An interception by Parker Rossow set up the first touchdown drive for Groton area. Rossow's interception with 2:18 left in the first quarter put Groton on the Mobridge-Pollock 42 yard line.

Kasey Kurtz gained 12 yards to get a first down. Then Rossow connected with Spencer Knecht in the end zone for a 30 yard touchdown pass. Trenton Duncan kicked the PAT and Groton took a 7-0 lead with 1:36 left in the first quarter. That drive went 42 yards, there were two first downs and two plays in 32 seconds.
• Mobridge-Pollock had the ball briefly early in the second quarter before the visiting Tigers fumbled the ball and Jason Holm recovered it. The Groton drive started at the Mobridge-Pollock 25 yard line. The drive was almost stopped when Pearson Wientjes intercepted the ball, but a pass interference on Mobridge-Pollock not only gave Groton the ball back, but also an automatic first down and the ball at the 19 yard line. Kurtz had one carry close to a first down, then carried the ball into the endzone on a nine-yard run with 7:22 left in the half. Duncan's PAT kick attempt was stopped by a Mobridge-Pollock penalty.
