Pioneer Ford to Groton Ford

2300: The new Groton Ford dealership is now open and ready for business.

2308: Pioneer Ford building has housed the Ford dealership for over a century.

• Change. In today's fast paced world, we know that things are changing all around us. For months now we have known that Pioneer Ford in Groton had been sold and would be leaving the downtown area. This is a drastic change for the Ford dealership, which has been on Main Street for over a century.
• Ford first came to Groton after the turn of the century when Fred Bowles started an automobile agency and repair shop, just north of the current telephone company building. That building was destroyed by a fire on June 27, 1911. They did manage to save the autos and some things from the building and set up temporary in a small building. By 1913 the new brick building was built, the present Pioneer Ford building, and there the business has remained until now.
The start of things to come.
• Things began to change early this spring when, after months of meetings, conference calls and the signing of many documents, Ford approved the purchase and relocation of the Ford franchise. The new owners, Nick Simon, Todd Thurston and Marc Sippel, purchased the business from Tom and Jack Mahan.
• "I was very excited about the opportunity to keep the Ford franchise alive and thriving in Groton." Tom Mahan said.
• "We feel very fortunate to be able to continue the Ford legacy in Groton," Simon stated. "We look forward to the opportunity to earn everyone's business"
• The name of the business was also changed to Groton Ford. Groton Ford will
