Respect, Relationships, and Social Skill Training.  .
•  In addition to the Life Skills Training, our 7th graders will work with the Natural Helper Program to build positive helping skills.  The goal of the program is to teach students to take care of oneself, work as a team, identify when friends need help, express care & concern for others, recognize situations where professional or adult help is needed, locate positive helping resources.
•  The 8th graders will also work with the SDMyLife Career program to start exploring careers and career planning.  Students will work with a career matchmaker to explore their interests and values, and they will start the school exploration and planning process that will be continued throughout their high school years.

Support Needed for PAC

September 19, 2012

•  Submitted by:  Joe Schwan, MS/HS Principal
•  The Groton Area MS/HS PAC is in need of parent volunteers to help make our organization a viable avenue through which to support our students.  The organization makes drug and alcohol free plans for the students' post-prom celebration, provides support to students in financial need, and helps to recognize and support our teachers throughout the year.
•  The PAC's primary source of funding is the concession stand which is operated and managed by Mr. Chuck Padfield.  A common misconception about participation in PAC is that it includes a big time commitment to the concession stand and this is not the case.  The PAC organization is financially stable, but is in serious need of good people who wish to maintain and preserve its functions.  If you feel that you can contribute to our PAC, please contact Mr. Schwan (Joe.Schwan@k12.sd.us) or Mrs. Jan Seibel (Jan.Seibel@k12.sd.us).
•  Our next two meetings are scheduled for October 9th and November 13th at 7:00 PM in the Groton Area High School Library to begin planning for the post-prom activities for next spring.  We will likely meet two or three more times next spring to finalize details for that event.  Your help and participation in any or all of those meetings would be warmly welcomed.  We hope to hear from you or see you at the next meeting.
•  Sincerely,
•  Joe Schwan, MS/HS Principal
