Lots of hands on work is done in 2nd grade.  The use of flash cards and time tests, help to improve our addition and subtraction skills.
•   Homecoming Week was exciting!  A large number of students "dressed" for the different days.  A group picture was taken daily of all who had come in costume.  Different visitors came to enjoy the noon meal with our students, cheerleaders, Queen Abby and King Lincoln, senior football and volleyball players just to name a few.  Then going outside to play with the kids, what a treat!  Our students love to be involved with the older students!!
•  Something new took place this year with Homecoming, we had a "Kiss the Pig" contest.  The teacher/adult who had the most money in their jar won the honor of kissing the pig. The students enjoyed tossing their money in the jar in hopes of seeing that teacher kiss the pig.  Lots of predicting took place on which jar was the fullest and who would be the "lucky winner"! All would say this was a fun and exciting week at the Elementary School.
•   The end of the first quarter is coming mid-October, time has been flying by - filled with lots of learning, fun and laughter for all in 2nd grade - students and teachers!!

•  Please help your child memorize addition and subtraction facts.  The students need a solid foundation with the beginning basic facts to be successful in Math.  We will soon be starting multiplication and division facts.
•  Encourage your child to read.  There are many good books for the children to choose from.  Our goal this year is 40pts.
•  Don't forget www.SpellingCity.com for all our spelling words.
