We even practiced exiting the bus through the back emergency door.  The next day, we had even more fun-we painted large school buses.  Painting is so much fun!
•  Thank you to all the Moms who were able to attend our Muffins for Moms Party.  This was in honor of learning the new letter Mm.  We thought after learning this letter and sound, it would be fun to invite our moms in for a short visit.  We love having visitors in Kindergarten!  Your child loved showing you all around our classrooms and showing off their wonderful artwork!
•  Math class has kept us very busy.  Our first chapter was about sorting and classifying.  We played many hands-on games to help us understand this concept.  We now have started Chapter 2 about patterns and movement.  We are really enjoying making patterns!  It is so fun-it is almost like a song-red, blue, red, blue, red, blue.  This chapter also teaches us right and left.  We learned a fun chant to help us remember which is our right hand and which is our left.   Dancing to the Hokey Pokey is also great practice!
•  Homecoming week is so much fun!  We had fun dressing in our pajamas-it was very cozy during rest time-we really wanted to sleep!   Camo/Neon Day was fun-some of us were very bright and some of us were invisible!  We looked very "professional" with our cameras and "Press" caps for the parade, too.  What a fun and exciting week!

2nd Grade - Jane Kroll and Anne Zoellner
•
The 2nd grade school year began with a Picnic and Open House.  What a great turnout!!  It was a time of fun, visiting and good food. A big Thank-You goes out to all who made the meal possible.
•   Following the picnic, parents and students headed to the Elementary school to attend the Open House. The second grade students and parents found their room, lockers, desks and moved in! Many hours were spent getting the school room ready for the students, it was very rewarding to see how excited our new students were.  It is a great way to start the new year!
•   Forty-one students came on the official first day of school.  Thanks to the Open House, they knew what side they were on, locker numbers and their book bags were unpacked.  They were ready to begin!
•   The Reading series we use is Treasures.  It is an excellent series that covers a vast area of reading skills.  Grammar, spelling, writing, phonics are just a few.  What a great way to begin the school year.
•   The first few chapters in Math are spent reviewing the skills learned in 1st grade.
