Preschool - Paula Johnson
•  With the beginning of school brings many new and exciting experiences for preschool .   The first two months of school our themes will include welcome to school, apples, Bears and body parts, colors, and dinosaurs.  We will also be focusing on the letters A, B, and C.   Songs and finger plays are also an important and fun part of each day.
•  Fall is in the air and we are trying to get outside as much as we can before we are no longer able to do so.   We also enjoy all the fun centers that go along with our themes each week during free time.  Our goal is to make each center as inviting as possible so the children can use their imaginations and learn to communicate and play with each other independently.

Kindergarten - Ann Gibbs and Renee Swisher

•  It  didn't take our 39 Kindergarten students long to discover that school is an exciting place to be-with lots of fun things to do and learn about everyday!  There are so many things to learn-how to take turns, how to sit in a circle, how to line up in alphabetical order and how to find your way around the school!
•  Our theme for the beginning of the school year has been "Bugs".  We have read stories about bugs and have filled our classrooms with beautiful "works of art"-bees, ladybugs, caterpillars and butterflies. Did you know another name for a cocoon is a chrysalis?  We have watched caterpillars transform into Monarch butterflies and have had the chance to release them.  We also had some very important visitors.  Paul and Holly Taylor came to visit our classrooms to teach us about being a bee keeper.  Paul brought in a "box" with about 700 bees!  Wow-we were sure glad they were in a glass box!  He taught us about bees and what their important jobs are-and told us that if we didn't have bees we wouldn't have kiwi, watermelon, more flowers or oranges.  Paul brought us a bottle of honey and a box of graham crackers to try-what a great treat!  Thank you so much for coming to teach us about your very important job working with bees!
•   At center time, the children love to play in the Dairy Queen in the dramatic play center, to draw, cut and glue and write words in the writing center.  We are also learning as we play in the math and reading centers.   The computer center is a favorite for many of our students, too.  School is so much fun!
•  Thank you to Loren Bahr and Randy Hjermstad for teaching us about Bus Safety.  We practiced walking a safe distance away when entering and leaving the bus.  We also talked about the safety of sitting in our seats when the bus is moving.
