SD authorities search for missing prison inmate

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Authorities are searching for a missing South Dakota prison inmate.
• Corrections officials say John He Crow left a minimum-security prison in Rapid City to go to his work release job on Sunday and failed to return.
• The 51-year-old He Crow is serving about seven years behind bars for a grand theft conviction in Pennington County.

Victim of fatal South Dakota fire identified

• MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) -- Authorities have identified a woman who died in a mobile home fire in Mitchell over the weekend.
• Authorities say 59-year-old Cheryl Roop was living in the home that was destroyed in the early Saturday blaze. Roop's adult daughter, infant granddaughter and a man were able to escape but were injured and taken to a hospital. Their con

ditions haven't been released.
• Mitchell Public Safety Chief Lyndon Overweg says there is nothing suspicious about the fire, though authorities continue to investigate the cause.

SD courts in 2 counties using new computer system

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Circuit courts in Lincoln and Minnehaha counties are switching to a new computer system for managing information.
• Court officials in the two counties, which make up South Dakota's Second Circuit, have been converting information from the old system to a new case management system being developed by the state's judicial administration.
• The circuit courts in the two counties will begin using the system Monday.
• Court officials say the Odyssey system represents a dramatic step forward in the way the court system manages, stores and retrieves data of all kinds. The switch to the new computer system has already been made in two other circuits.

Gov. Daugaard proclaims October as Archives Month

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Gov. Dennis Daugaard says October is Archives Month in South Dakota as part of an effort to draw attention to preservation efforts that protect the state's documentary history.
