SD using electronic vehicle lien and title system

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota Division of Motor Vehicles is switching to an electronic system for storing vehicle lien recordings and title applications that denote a lien.
• Beginning Monday, lien recordings and title applications denoting liens will not be issued a paper title document. The title document will be retained in the state's computer system, and a paper vehicle title certificate will be printed when the lien is released.
• Division of Motor Vehicles director Deb Hillmer says the new system will provide a more effective and efficient way to handle the documents.

Season's last lightning ceremony at Mount Rushmore

• MOUNT RUSHMORE NATIONAL MEMORIAL, S.D. (AP) -- The season's last lighting ceremony is being held at Mount Rushmore National Memorial on Sunday

evening.
• Starting in October, the sculpture will be lit at dusk for one hour nightly.
• The Lincoln Borglum Visitor Center and Information Center on Monday will shift to its fall operating hours of 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MDT.
• The sculptor's studio will be open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. through Oct. 14, and will then close until next year.

Badlands National Park hosting community event

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Badlands National Park is partnering with a non-profit organization that supports restoration and preservation of park resources to host a community event in Rapid City on Sunday.
• The Badlands Bash is designed to bring awareness of the work The Friends of the Badlands does. The organization supports interpretative, educational and scientific programs at the national park. The event is running in conjunction with National Public Lands Day, which was Saturday.
• The Badlands Bash will be held from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Main Street Square in Rapid City. Several local musicians will be featured. There will also be information booths about the Badlands set up and activities for kids.
