Groton HS Boys Varsity Soccer Qualifies For State High School Soccer Tournament

• GHS Boys Varsity Soccer record now 9-3  (team has won the last 6 games in a row)
• The GHS Boys Soccer team travelled to Mitchell on Tuesday, September 25 to take on Mitchell High School in the last regular season game for 2012.  Groton's team has had a few injuries but played a tough game and won 3-2.
• In the first half at 27:15, Mitchell had a hand ball in the box.  Groton's Sheady Htoo sent the penalty kick into the net for the 1-0 Tiger lead.  Mitchell scored at minute 17:00 on a free kick outside the 18.   Groton's Kapow Htoo scored (assist Luke Sternhagen) at the 14:46 mark to give the Tigers the 2-1 lead.
• In the second half, Landon Larson (assist Kapow Htoo) scored at the 12:57 mark.  Mitchell was able to convert on a corner kick at 12:17 to score the final goal of the game and give Groton the 3-2 victory.  Goalkeepers for Groton were Chance Strom and Jarrett Adler.
• The GHS Boys Team earned the #2 seed for the 2012 season and automatic entrance into the first state-sanctioned high school state soccer tournament.   Tournament play for State Soccer will be Thursday and Friday, October 4-5 in Aberdeen and will be televised around SD.

Girls to host playpff game

Groton girls will host Sioux Falls Christian on Saturday, 4:40 p.m.
