• "There are some good reasons why this proposal works," Bartling said. "After sitting down with the Bath Fire Department we found that both departments have similar working styles, making it easier to work together.
• Response times can be reduced.
• "By making the Bath Fire Station into a satellite station," Bartling said. "We can cut our response times to some fires, those firemen that work in Aberdeen can now go to the Bath station instead of traveling all the way to Groton."
• Groton Fire Chief Dion Bahr also spoke at the hearing, outlining the plan to move gear and equipment into Bath, making it a satellite station of the Groton Fire Department.
• "Right now their gear and equipment is not the greatest," Bahr said. "Nobody should have to go into a fire with crappie equipment, and that's why we want to help. Being a part of a Fire Tax District makes a huge difference."
