Groton golfers fall short in qualifying for state

• So close, yet, so far. Two Groton golfers came so close in qualifying for the state tournament.
• Juniors Parker Rossow and Mason Madsen placed 26th and 27th at the Region 1B Tournament held Monday in Sioux Valley. Rossow hit a 91 and Madsen a 92.
• Others participating were Reilly Ell, junior, with a 95 and in 31st place, Carson Bunn, sophomore, was 41st place with a 113 and Brody Sombke, freshman, finished 44th with a 115.

Schaller places third at Groton meet

• Jasmine Schaller placed third at the Groton Invitational cross-country meet held Monday. Her time on the 3,000 meter course was 16:33.8. In the boys division, Luke Smith ran the 5,000 meter course in 20:45.9 to finish in seventh place.
• Hannah Lewandowski won the junior varsity girls race, running the 3,000 meter course in 13:52.6. Erin Smith was fifth with a time of 15:24.5 and Jenifer Fjelstad was 13th with a time of 19:45.5.

1636: Even hurt with a sprained ankle, Jasmine Schaller was able to run a strong race and finish in third place at the Groton Invitational on Monday.
